The 617 Squadron is apart of the Royal Air Force Aircraft Squadron that was and still is nicknamed as ＂The Dambusters＂ mainly because of the actions that was done during Operation Chastise against German Dams in Sorpe Dam‚ Möhne Dam and the Eder River Dam by using the new and still somewhat experimental Bouncing Bomb or Vickers Type 464 Bombs that was conducted by 617 Squadron RAF Bomber Command from the night of May 16‚ 1943 May 17‚ 1943․ ［Group under maintenance․］
